Health & Wellness at Malilangwe

Malilangwe is home to all its staff and their immediate families, who reside in three different villages on the property.

As such, an environment that nurtures happiness and good health has been created. This is done through sports and recreation facilities, which include soccer fields, volleyball, netball, gym, tennis courts, swimming pools, playgrounds, and communal halls. Seasonal gardens provide fresh produce, which is available to the staff to purchase on a cost-recovery basis.

One of Malilangwe’s main objectives is maintaining good health amongst its staff and encouraging awareness through workshops and dissemination of information.  Tsuvuka Clinic on Malilangwe, provides a health service, free of charge, to all of the Trust’s staff and their immediate dependents.  A nurse heads up the clinic and is responsible for the treatment, patient care, and onward referrals to hospitals for the more serious cases (i.e. scouts injured in the field, serious malaria cases, etc).

Focus Areas

Malaria is prevalent in the Chiredzi district and is preventatively managed through indoor residual spraying and the issue of weekly prophylaxis to staff.

HIV/AIDS awareness workshops are carried out on Malilangwe through in-house dramas, dance, and songs which promote behavioral change, and a nurse provides counseling and support.

The monthly babies clinic conducted by nurses in the District for babies immunizations, weight recording, and family planning is conducted on Malilangwe.
