Baby Gorilla - Rwanda Project

Rwanda Project

Volcanoes National Park

More than a third of the world’s remaining 1,063 mountain gorillas are found in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. The Rwanda Project – Volcanoes National Park comprises 178 acres bordering the National Park and conservation efforts focus on ensuring that the area is successfully restored through active reforestation with local indigenous trees. Acting as a critical buffer between the Park and agricultural land, the Rwanda Project also aims to increase the habitat of the mountain gorillas and provide a refuge for unique species of fauna and flora in the region – including forest elephants and buffalo, birds, and reptiles, and even endemic orchids.
